The healing garden will include raised beds, edible landscaping, native plants, a walking path and “outdoor rooms” where patrons can sit and enjoy nature. The garden will be open to the community; and we look forward to our patients, friends and neighbors using this beautiful space!

The Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) will operate a mobile food pantry, which will be located adjacent to the garden in PHC’s clinic parking lot. Dr. Engebretsen envisions inviting the community in for cooking classes and other opportunities to learn how to improve health and prevent disease.

Attendees will be able to take a couple laps around the garden walking path to gather some healthy food or herbs to use in their recipes. Dr. Engebretsen (and some healthcare provider colleagues) will also initiate a “Walk With a Doc” program; which will offer the community an opportunity for health education and exercise.
