It has been a busy winter for the community outreach team and we are ramping up for the spring. PHC is consistently seeking opportunities to reach and engage with the people we serve throughout central Iowa to promote access to our unique programs and services.

As we wrapped up 2017 we finished with a flurry of events. Scavo Community Night at the Central Campus is always a fun and well attended evening. We were able to engage with Scavo students and their families, sharing about the services we provide in our school-based clinic, located on the 4th floor of the Central Campus building. We were also present at the Anawim Housing Resource Fair, Monroe Health Fair, Transgender Education Summit and many non-profit coalition meetings throughout central Iowa.

We are proud to have our new mobile health unit and the community outreach team has been “on the road” participating in many community events throughout central Iowa. On December 1, World AIDS Day, we partnered with La Reina Radio Station to promote HIV/STI testing to the Latinxo community. Our mobile health unit was parked outside of their studio on East Grand and they promoted testing, live on air, throughout the day. It was one of those balmy December days we were lucky enough to have and we saw a great turn out! The Project Outreach team was also out at Central College, Simpson College, The Garden Nightclub and AJ’s on East Court.

If you have an event/expo that you think we should know about, please contact Natalia Trimnell at ntrimnell@phcinc.net or (515) 248-1843 with the details!
